New Product // Floral Keychains

Finally introducing some new products to the blog. I've had these made for a few weeks now and will be taking them to the show next week. I'll list them on the website in October; I'm planning of having a large shop update soon.

It's about 6 days till I start setting up my 10 x 10 booth at the show. I'm getting nervous and excited! I cannot wait to see how the booth comes together, I've been working hard to get everything ready. I've even had my boyfriend Rob helping. Yesterday, he made over 200 earring cards... so grateful for a supportive guy in my life. And that's about it over here. Working my part-time job and then the other hours on show preparation.

Push Pins Mania

I've got my push pins all packaged and ready to go for the October show. I made about 24 sets, which was pretty fun. I enjoyed picking the color sets and making the packaging. What doesn't sell I'll add to the shop, but if you want a custom order or specific colors you can just e-mail me. Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday.

Things I Made // Floral Wreath

As my October show quickly approaches I've been scrambling around trying to get all my decorations for the booth completed. This weekend I tackled two projects, this wreath was my small one. I got the original idea from this post.

Super easy I shouldn't even call it a DIY. So simple and no glue needed, great holiday project for the kiddos as well.

Supplies // Wire cutters, floral wire (I picked mine up at the Dollar Tree), wire leaf garland, fake flowers, and some ribbon or twine.

I began by cutting a piece of wire, I didn't really measure as I wanted them all to be random sized circles. I then shaped the wire into a circle to wear the ends almost touched, I found the Dollar Tree wire was very soft and easy to manipulate. Next I started wrapping the leaf garland around the circle, when I got the where the ends of the wire met I made sure the leaf garland connect the two. I kept wrapping until there were no more gaps, I believe I went around the wire 2 times and then cut off pieces to fill in. Then I added some flowers, they had a two inch wire attached to them so it was very simple to wrap into the wreath. Lastly, I added a piece of twine so I could hand the little wreath in my booth.

I plan to make five total, two larger and two much smaller than the one show here. Can't wait to show you all my finished booth from the show. Next week I'm going to share another tutorial that I'm pretty proud of. I spent all of Sunday sitting at a sewing machine and the end result is amazing. Have a wonderful Monday.

Quit Your Day Job

Last week I quit my job in the gulf. As in I was supposed to go back on the 9th, and on the 4th I called and said I'm not coming back. The days after I quit I wondered if I was doing the right thing. Yes living in a hotel for the last 1.5 years has sucked, but I am financially well off because of it. It was a decision that meant I could start the next chapter of my life. So for about one week I was jobless, minus being self-employed by my business. I knew that the shop couldn't pay all my bills, so I needed something else part time.

Monday night I got a call asking if I was interested in nannying 3 days a week for 2 boys, the best part, for the next 9 months! I met with the family Tuesday and today will be my first day. I am beyond excited that for the next 9 months I will have a steady source of income and be able to work on my business. It's amazing how everything falls into place once you stop trying to control everything.

I am so thankful for my job on the gulf, it was very hard to leave the company, although I'm not ruling out our paths crossing in the future. Having a job right out of college was a blessing and I do not take it for granted. I know I wouldn't be at this point with my shop if it weren't for my gulf job. So if any of my coworkers are reading this, thanks for the last year and a half. I'll miss you all and keep on running!

Race a Month // September

The Color Run - Birmingham, AL : 5k

Before: For two months I haven't been able to train, I'd maybe run at total of 20 miles. My IT band was still giving me trouble, but I knew this was a very laid back race and I could walk if needed. We bought tickets back in January so we were all pretty pumped for the Labor Day race. Race day we woke up to horrible thunderstorms but still decided to head out to the race. We ended up being on the front line of the first wave. We stood in pouring rain for over an hour before the race even started.

During: The race started and people were already throwing their color packets. It was raining so the powder clumped up and was staining people's skin. The whole course was on a race track, so to say it was hilly would be an understatement. The first .25 was uphill, my best friend and I were winded two minutes into the race! We came up on the first color zone, red, and it was so hard to see anything through the powder being thrown. The rain was getting more intense and my sneakers were so heavy. We kept on trucking up hills, down hills, around corners, through color zones and only walked a few times. Finally we were close to the end, I was very ready to be done. Rob and I held hands like big ole nerds to the finish line... okay Rob was dragging me, but whatever. We came through at about 27 minutes. All 4 of us were surprised at how quick we ran despite some walking and horrible hills.

After: No one wanted to stick around for the color party at the end. We already looked like some kind of horrible tie dye experiment. Really want to do another city and pray it doesn't rain. I think it would have been much more fun and not as cold. Overall, we had fun and it's a great story! Very glad my friends Michael and Vicki drove up to run it with me :)

Birthday Recap

Holy WOW! What an amazing birthday! Thanks to everyone who left me some love on the internet yesterday, it really meant a lot.

Yesterday I woke up to my mom singing Happy Birthday to me and she gifted me the most amazing cardigan! I wore it out to lunch with her. Then around 1:30 flowers were delivered to the house from Rob, how gorgeous are these?

Rob got off work and came over to the house to take me out for dinner. Out of his pocket came a small black box. I opened the box and there were these... I've never seen anything so pretty. The earrings are so vintage looking and so me, which is crazy because I'm not a big diamond person. The blue stones are aquamarine, which are one of my favorite stones. I wore them to dinner and could not stop looking at my ears in the mirror.

The day ended with Rob and I watching a movie at his house and my Aunt and Uncle calling and singing Happy Birthday, it was the perfect ending. Now back to reality.

**And Kara finished my blog makeover late last night, which was also the best birthday surprise. I'll post more about it next week**

Another Year Older - 24

Right now I'm celebrating turning 24! Wooohoooo! 24 sounds so much better than 23. And SO much is in store for 24, I'm pretty sure I'm going to look back on this year and just smile.

Today I'm going to get a mani/pedi and then wait for the boy to get off work. We are headed out for dinner and then probably some hammock time. I love low key birthdays so much. I'll leave you with some highlights of being 23 this past year.

Running 9 races. Taking risks with my business. Meeting Rob. Taking over ownership of Parker, who use to be my mom's dog. Working on the Gulf with the oil spill. Being a bridesmaid to my best friend Vicki. My grandfather buying one of my necklaces for my grandmother. Sitting in a bookstore tonight with my mom and planning a HUGE secret. Playing flag football with the guys. Finding a church I love. Visiting my other best friend, Amber, in Wisconsin.
